Jesus Saves Ministries founder Rev. Angela Lee Price will be a featured speaker at the Brain Storms Uniting Common Threads Survivor/Family/Caregiver Conference, Saturday, March 6th, at Baptist Hospital East, Louisville, Kentucky. She will share, in the Patient Advocacy session between 2:00-3:00 PM, a family member's perspective on Stroke, the third leading cause of death among African Americans. "After my husband's stroke, the Lord placed it upon my heart to alert as many people as I could through radio and the internet about the warning signs and risk factors for stroke. Too many African Americans are dying needlessly from poor eating habits, and lack of exercise, but Jesus said, 'I come that you may have life and have it more abundantly,'" states Min. Price.
Angela Lee Price is a minister and a former radio personality with WLOU Radio. Her husband legendary radio personality Bill Price suffered a stroke in May 2008. At that time, she and Bill both worked on air in the afternoon and morning drive slots respectively. In the absence of her husband, Angela moved to morning drive and teamed up with the Power to End Stroke Initiative to help raise awareness of stroke within the African American communities.
Angela kept Bill’s radio audience up to date on his recovery, interviewing medicals experts such as Dr. Kerri Remmel and Dr. Adwale Troutman, as well as representatives from the American Stroke Association and Baptist East Hospital staff. She distributed materials on stroke, and diabetes at personal appearances and solicited ambassadors for the Power to End Stroke Initiative. She has written articles on stroke in the Jesus Saves Newsletter, her bi-monthly publication and on her blog. In 2008, Angela received the American Stroke Association Inspiration Award. In 2009, she participated in the Kentucky and Southern Indiana Extravaganza Tasting Event honoring Bill Price.
The Brain Storms Conference is a day-long event designed to increase public awareness of epilepsy, brain injury, brain tumor, and stroke, and will feature medical experts from Norton Healthcare, the University of Louisville Stroke Program, Baptist East Hospital and healthcare professsionals from around the region.
