Jesus Saves Ministries Worships At CHCCW, March 26th

We praise the Lord for another opportunity to worship with the staff and residents of Christian Health Care Center West on Sunday, March 26th here in Louisville, Kentucky!  Truly, the Holy Spirit was in the place!  Jesus Saves Ministries friend and ministry partner Sis. Erica Dean brought along members from her church, ⛪ First Virginia Avenue Baptist Church to lead in praise and worship, Assc. Pastor Malone, Sis. Irma Dortey, Sis. Mary Schekels-Jones.  Min. Marian Anderson, New Horizon Worship Center, read scripture and led in a call and response prayer based on John 3:16.

My message on prayer was entitled, The Art of Rising, 1 Chronicles 4:9-10.   I encouraged the residents to not let someone else's false understanding of who they are negatively affect their relationship with God and people. They should not give up on believing God will bless them indeed.  Seniors have a place of honor with God (Eph. 6:2, Prov. 16:31, Lev. 19:32), but problem of dishonor in society, particularly in the US.  Jabez, too, had a place of honor, but a problem of dishonor, his name, "Son of Sorrow," that had the potential to adversely affect his future performance.  But he was a praying man, and God blessed and enlarged his territory, empowered him, and kept him from evil and from doing evil to others.  God is no respector of persons (Romans 10:13, John 3:16, Psalm 71:18-19)), but character and honor gets his attention (John 15:7, 1John 3:22; James 5:15-16; Psalm 34:15).  Jabez had a city named after him where families of scribes continued to learn and teach the good knowledge of God (1 Chron. 2:55).

CHCCW Chaplain Rev. Michael Lee did  an amazing job sharing segments of the resurrection story pertaining to the Last Supper and Jesus washing the disciple's feet as prelude to communion.  Our hearts were saddened to learn of the recent home going of resident, Sis. Winburn who often played piano for ministries who worship at CHCCW. She was the epitome of a senior saint who mastered the art of rising.  She was loved by so many, and will be truly missed.  We wore rose color and shades of pink to commemorate the midpoint of lent.

Rejoice! Today, Thursday marks the midway point of Lent! For those observing the 40 days of Lent, the third Thursday, represents the half-way point in our time of spiritual reflection, prayer and repentance. The midpoint of Lent is traditionally viewed as a time of celebration that occurs on the fourth 4⃣ Sunday. The point of Laetare Sunday or Rose Sunday, as it is called, is to provide encouragement as we progress to the end of Lent. Join us this Sunday at CHCCW for praise, prayer 👏 and the preached Word as we encourage all to press toward the mark for Jesus! Jesus saves!!!

Serve Well to Lead Well

Contrary to popular belief the way up is not up.  The way up is down! Jesus got down! So, take out your towels, and prepare to get down, and wash a few feet! In John 13, Jesus washes his disciples’ feet. He does this just before the Passover Celebration. It was the very night that Jesus instituted the ordinance of the Lord's Supper at the Passover Meal. There, He gave an object-lesson on servant-leadership and humility. Scripture says he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and pour water in a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples' feet and wipe them with his towel (vs. 4-5). In verses 14-17 He says, “And since I, the Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. How true it is that a servant is not greater than the master. Nor or messengers more important than the one who sends them. You know these things-now do them! That is the path to blessing” (NLT).

Today we have a lot of chiefs and very few Indians.  Everyone wants to be like Jesus but very few want to sacrifice and put in the work.  Truth be told, the disciples did not always serve Jesus well before his death. If we are going to lead like Jesus, preach like Jesus, teach like Jesus, and love like Jesus, we must begin by serving like Jesus.  So, get your towels out, sisters and brothers! Get your towels out because we must serve well to lead well! Elisha served Elijah well and received a double portion of Elijah's anointing.  Joshua served Moses well, and was God's choice to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land. Timothy and Titus served the Apostle Paul well.  You must serve well to lead well because Jesus was the perfect servant-leader! Jesus said what the Father said, and Jesus did what the Father sent him to do, to save us from our sins (John 3:16).  Jesus was obedient even until his death on the Cross (Romans 5:8).  And the Father raised Him from the dead. Now, Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father making intercession for us (Hebrews 1:3; 12:2).  And his Holy  Spirit indwells the believer.   But after Jesus' resurrection and ascension, the apostles were fully committed to the cause of Christ.  Remember his instruction to the disciples at the Last Supper. Servant-leadership takes obedience, hard work, compassion, and commitment, and humility.  Serve well to lead well.  Jesus saves!

Here is what God does for the humble:
  1. God give joy to the humble.  "The humble will see their God at work and be glad.  Let all who seek God's help live in joy. Psalm 69:32.
  2. God rescues the humble.  "You rescue those who are humble."  Psalm 18:27
  3. God takes care of the humble.  "Though the Lord is great, he cares for the humble, but he keeps his distance from the proud."  Palm 138:6.
  4. God supports the humble.  "The Lord supports the humble, but he brings the wicked down into the dust."  Psalm 147:6.
  5. God fills the humble with fresh joy.  "The humble will be filled wsith fresh joy from the Lord.  Those who are poor will rejoice in the Holy One of Israel."  Isaiah 29:29.
Here is a promise from God:
"Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted."  Matthew 23:12

Min. Angela Speaks at 12 Steps of Destiny Workshop

By: Min. Angela Lee Price

I had opportunity to speak at the 12 Steps to Destiny Workshop on Saturday, March 11th, at the Louisville Free Public Library hosted by Min. Sherri Dunn, Life Seeds Ministry. Also speaking, Rev. LaShonda Fletcher, Take Captive, Rev. Sharon Saucer Brown, Watch Your Mouth, Tarsha Semakula, The Chrysalis Program.

I spoke from subject, "Go All In", Joshua 1:1-9, focus v5, The Lord said to Joshua, I will be with you, l will never leave you nor forsake you.
Here is a brief excerpt:
"This is for somebody in here. You’ve come to the edge of your wilderness. You’ve been broke long enough, homeless long enough, sick long enough, addicted long enough, abused and oppressed long enough. You've walked around and around in the wilderness.  God wants to bring you into your Promise Land, a land flowing with milk and honey!  The land is your land.  Somebody shout, “It’s mine!”  You must be strong and courageous.  You will have a river to cross, walls to bring down, and giants to defeat.  You will have battles to fight.  But know this, When God brings you to it, he will bring you through it.  Because he has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you! Now, go all in!  Walk by faith and not by sight!  Go all in!  How do you go all in?  Just as Joshua did when he led the Israelites across the Jordan River, you go all in to your Promised Land with three things, essential preparation; spiritual dedication, and emotional protection."
After 12 Steps of Destiny Workshop at the Free Public Library, I headed over to my facility, The Life Conference Suite where Rev. Tina R. Patterson, hosted her clergy group's final meeting for her DMin project. The pastors and preachers, and not all of them are pictured, discussed all things pertaining to the sermon on their last session of about eight.  In this picture are Rev. Aline Foster, who just returned from a trip to Israel; Pastor Tina Patterson who is pursing a Doctorate of Ministry, and Pastor Angela Johnson who is also pursing a Doctorate of Ministry. To God be the glory for all that he is doing in the lives of preaching women! #goallin

Lent: Stay Woke

Today's Lent Journey devotion is called "The Awakening." The Scripture is Luke 23:32-34, Jesus praying on the cross,  "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." I like the declaration many are using in the justice movement today, "Stay Woke."  Inspite of all that is going on around us, we must not become so overwhelmed, get too busy and distracted, or become so comfortable that we lose conciousness of what is really going on around us and fall asleep.  We must "stay woke," especially and particularly to the presence of God in our lives.  Prayer is the foundation of our spiritual conciousness.  Jesus prayed consistently.  He was always conscious of the presence of the Father in his life.  Even on the cross, where I would have understood if Jesus was unconcious or asleep, but, he was not.  He stayed woke praying to the Father for his enemies, Father,  forgive them for they don't know what they are doing.
Below is the an easy exercise directly from the devotion to practice the presence of God.

EXERCISE
• Take a few moments to talk to God and to share your feelings about your consciousness with Him.
• As an exercise for the day, use your cellphone as a tool. Each time you look at it, become aware of God’s presence.

Why Should Millennials Observe Lent?

A Millennial on Lent:
"Lent is about "giving up something." This I know and why is that? If I give it up, will I get it back? Is it like "donating," or something like that? I am trying with exaggeration and on purpose to get your attention in hopes you might say something, educate me, please about what this Lent is and what it really means! I am young, and new to all this, but I heard it on the radio,  and it peaked my interest.  Exactly, then, what does Lent mean to you and what should Lent mean to me? I am young and why should we care? Hello? Hello? Is anybody there?"

Imagine youth and young adults  viewing this season of Lent through a secular lens. Many people talk about giving up something for Lent, and eating fish on Fridays, but still more Millennials don't fast, pray, read their Bibles or attend church. What would you say to young persons about why you do, or do not, observe Lent?

What are you giving up for Lent?

Lent: A Prayer For the Lost to Be Saved

Heavenly Father, We are come to You by faith praying for your Kingdom to come and for your will to be done (Luke 11: 1-4, Matt. 6: 9-13). We pray for the lost to be saved. We pray that anyone who has drifted away from You will return in this season of Lent.  We know it is Your will that none should perish for You  so loved the world that You gave Your only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life (John 3:16).

We are so glad the Infinite became an infant to save!  The Bible declares the angel of the Lord told Joseph, "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus because he will save his people from their sins" (Matt 1:21). We believe there is salvation in the name of Jesus. Jesus means "the Lord saves." The Bible states, "In His name the nations will put their hope" (Matthew 12:21) and "Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Joel 2:32; Romans 10:13).  Jesus saves!

Thank you for delivering us from the penalty, power, presence of sin, through our confession of faith in Jesus Christ. Help Your churches and ministries to be intentional evangelism and reaching the unchurched and dechurched with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Help us, oh Lord, to be ready to contribute in every way, to pray for the lost, share testimony with the lost, and invite the lost to see Jesus.  We believe there is power in the name of Jesus to break every chain, even the chain of eternal separation and spiritual death.  We pray for the victory! In Jesus name, Amen!

Join Jesus Saves Ministries in Observing Lent

By:  Min. Angela Lee Price

"But ye are a chosen general, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praise of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;" 1 Peter 2:9.

Today is Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.  Lent is 40 days of fasting and repentance in preparation for Resurrection Sunday (Easter), this year on Sunday, April 16th. It is a time of personal and spiritual reflection. The six Sundays in Lent are not counted among the 40 days of lent as each Sunday represents a "mini-Easter," a celebration of Jesus' victory over sin and death.  These Sundays are excluded from fast days.

Beginning today through Resurrection Sunday, join us as we observe the Holy season of Lent with fasting, prayer, communion, and sermons and devotionals observing the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  During Lent, many people choose to give up luxuries, something of importance as a reminder of the great sacrifice Jesus made in dying on the cross for our sins.  Please consider giving up something very important to you and giving additional time to the Lord in prayer, Scripture meditation, or by participating in a Bible study.   Choose a day on which you feel you will be able to fast consistently according to your ability during the Lent season. Let us grow in our faith and draw closer to the Lord in this season.   Be ye holy even as God is holy! Your are a royal priesthood, a chosen generation!

Important Dates:
•March 1 - Ash Wednesday
•April 9 - Palm Sunday
•April 13 - Maundy (Holy) Thursday
•April 14 - Good Friday
•April 16 - Easter Sunday
