First Annual Ladies' Conference Victorious In Deed

By:  Min. Angela Lee Price

The Victorious Ladies' Ministry of Victorious World Christian Center hosted their first annual Women's Conference, Position Yourself for the Promise, July 22nd & 23rd, at the Corinthian Life Center, Louisville, KY. Guest speakers included Denita Kinnard, King Solomon Baptist Church, Louisville, KY, Evangelist Mary Rieves, Cathedral of Worship, St. Louis, MO, Min. Angela Lee Price, St. Stephen Church, Louisville, KY and Rev. Yvonne McCoy, Canaan Christian Church, Louisville, KY.

Denita Kinnard's message was entitled, The Promise of the Holy Spirit, based on Acts 1: 1-8. "As witnesses, our job is Kingdom Building...I am not ashamed of the Gospel whether I'm in the building or at Kroger's," Kinnard stated.

Evangelist Mary Rieves preached from Ruth 1: 8-16, "Seeing Beyond My Now." "There are three types of women in the story of Ruth and Naomi, the Leaving Woman, Orpha; the Cleaving Woman, Ruth; and the Believeing Woman, Naomi. "Ruth obeyed Naomi, and her obedience got her to the promise...Our problem is we don't obey leadership's call to pray at 6:00 a.m., but we want God to pay our mortgage," Rieves stated. She said, "God tests us to see if we believe that what He says will surely come to pass."

My  sermon was entitled, "Now, Run And Tell That, based on John 20:17 and Mary Magadalene's encounter with Jesus at the empty tomb. "Mary, a woman once possessed by seven demons, received a position of promise  because she started early, stayed fit, stayed late and stuck with it. If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior, accept him early, while it is still dark. Don't wait until later in life, on a Saturday or Sunday. Today is the day of salvation," I said.  "We need to train up our children early by sending them to vacation bible school, and teaching them to pray, "Now, lay me down to sleep....we need to do these things early."

Rev. Yvonne McCoy preached from Psalm 1 with the message, "Position Yourself For the Promise."  We should not keep company with immoral people, nor take their advice for anything, she said.  You think that you can lift them up, but they will only bring you down."

By: Min. Angela Lee Price
The 2010 Those Preachin’ Women Conference, Wisdom the Window to God’s Favor, hosted by KOG Ministries convened at Coke Memorial United Methodist Church last week and concluded on Saturday, July 10th with a luncheon featuring speaker Rev. Ruth Ward, Co-Pastor, New Birth Church, Louisville, Kentucky, gospel recording artist psalmist Carolyn Traylor, invocator Rev. Jacqueline King, Stoner Memorial Church, and mistress of ceremonies Min. Angela Lee Price, associate minister, St. Stephen Church and Founder, Jesus Saves Ministries.

Rev. Ward preaching from the book of Esther and asked, “Favor For What?” She stated most people believe having the favor God means having creature comforts and material possessions, but it should mean we look like God, we favor Him just as we  favor our parents or relatives.

The Those Preachin’ Women Conference convened in Louisville Kentucky July 7th—10th and featured a number for preaching women and workshop presenters from across the state of Kentucky and Ohio. Gospel artist Evangelist Carolyn Traylor, whose latest gospel favorite is entitled, "There's a Story Behind My Praise," ministered in song on Friday, July 9th at Hotel Louisville. The conference provides an opportunity for women to be exposed to and network with other women who share a passion for preaching the Word of God.

It's Christmas In July! And The Wise Men Gave Gifts!

Matthew 2:1-2; 10-12 KJV

(v1) Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem.
(v2) Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
(v 10) When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
(v11) And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

Who were these wise men, these gift givers? They were outsiders, Gentiles called Magi or Magicians. They were from Persia, modern day Iraq. Magi among the Persians were their intellectuals, philosophers and priests. Persia and the eastern nations were known for their star gazing, astrology, and idol worship. God in his infinite wisdom and sovereignty spoke to the Magi in a language they could understand, their language of the stars and drew them from afar, some 800 miles to worship the newborn King. You should be shouting right there because the Bibles says that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, that means every astrologer, magician, and soothsayer, too, and every tongue shall confess Jesus as Lord!

No doubt their gifts were wrapped with beautiful bows and ribbons of multi colors, cut from the finest cloth. To them, money was no object. Can’t you hear the rapper, Fabolous, “Just throw it in the bag!... Look at the price tags? Where they do that at? We're from the P-E-R. Where they do that at? Just throw it in the bag!” They traveled, following the extraordinary star, to present their best to the newborn King, money and products from their far-away country, gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Some commentaries suggest they offered gold as tribute to the King in Jesus, rendering to Caesar that which was Caesar’s; frankincense to the God in Jesus, for God was often honored with the smoke of incense; and myrrh to the Man in Jesus, that should he die, the myrrh could be use to embalm him. The wise men gave gifts to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

I stopped by to ask, what’s inside your bag? What are you giving Jesus for Christmas? Will you give Him your time, talent and treasures?

God has given every Christian at least one gift to bring, a spiritual gift. First Peter 4:11 states, “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms” (NIV).

Ephesians 4:7-8 tells us Jesus, the Perfect Gift, has given gifts to men. Our gifts have been given “for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” (v12). He didn’t save us to sit. He saved us to serve!

Even if some of your gifts appear to be a mystery to you a little while, your gifts will find you out. Your gifts will make room for you. Has anyone come up to you lately and said, “You’re good at that!,” “You should consider doing such and such in the church?” Those are quite possibly times when your gifts are making themselves known.

Stephen (Acts 6-7) was the first disciple martyred for the faith in the New Testament. Stephen’s gifts were known to the multitude. And so, Stephen was voted into office as deacon. Stephen was one of the seven men chosen to assist the apostles in the administrative affairs of the early Jerusalem church. He is most noted for his outstanding character, faith, wisdom, courage, and willingness to contend for the faith against false accusation and fierce opposition. St. Stephen Church is named after Stephen.

Stephen, a wise man gave his gifts to the King!

a. administration (v3,5)
b. wisdom (v3)
c. faith (v5)
d. teaching (v9-10, chapter 7)
e. prophecy (v9-10, chapter 7)
f. martyrdom (chapter 7, 7:60)

In addition to these gifts, Stephen was fine! He had it “going on!” In my sanctified imagination, he had to have looked like Denzel Washington. The Sanhedrin crowd could not help but stare at him when he spoke because “they saw that his face was like the face of an angel (chapter 6:15). What's in your bag?

I know, some of you are saying I have no money. I have no job. I can’t afford Gucci, Lou Vuitton. I’m like the Little Drummer Boy and Alicia Keys singing “Little Drummer Girl” where she says, “Christmas is lost. I have no gifts to bring to lay before the King. Br rump, pa, pa, pum. It’s just me and my drum!” The Bible says, my brothers and my sisters, by the mercies of God, present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Bring discernment, evangelism, and giving; bring hospitality, intercession, and knowledge; bring pastoring, teaching and writing; bring your musical gifts, vocal and instruments.

Sing glory to God in the Highest! Sing glory to God in the Highest! Sing glory to God in the Highest and on Earth Peace (Luke 2:14)!

Sermonnette preached Wednesday, December 23rd, St. Stephen Church, Louisville, KY.

Choose Today to Begin Again With Jesus Christ

This is the first of a new month and the first month of the second half of the year. Why not choose today to begin again.  No matter what has happened to you this year, choose to begin again with Jesus Christ. Choose today to lift up Jesus Christ here and on the Jesus Saves Social Network. Jesus says in His Word, "If I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me." I love that promise! Jesus promises to do the drawing, but we have a part to play. We must do the lifting. Help lift Him up and share the good news that Jesus saves!

We would love to hear what great and marvelous things God is doing in your life today. As the birds sing, and the "Son" shines, take time to share that powerful testimony God has given you, that scripture He has placed on your heart for such a time as this, that sermon excerpt that in faith will become a rhema word for a weary soul, that upcoming revival, conference or ministry event, that prayer request or praise report, and that birthday greeting or note of encouragement and become an instrument of God's drawing and saving power in someone's life.

We are blessed by your presence here, and we know in faith that the best is yet to come!  Begin again by posting your comments here and on the Jesus Saves Social Network. God has given us all great and wonderful gifts and talents. Use them to His glory and share the good news that Jesus saves!
