Oldest Living COGIC Jurisdictional Bishop A.T. Moore Dies

(Courier Journal Newspaper, Louisville, Kentucky) MOORE, HONORABLE BISHOP A. T., 98, of Louisville, KY, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2010 at his residence. Bishop Moore was Emeritus of Kentucky First Jurisdiction of The Church of God in Christ and Pastor Emeritus of Moore Temple Church of God in Christ.

Bishop Moore, a national historian, and legendary pioneer of The Church of God in Christ. He is survived by his son, Donald T. Moore (Carolyn); brothers and sisters, Clara Nell Oates, Otis Moore, Frank Moore, James Moore (Ernestine) and Evelyn Bentley; two grandchildren, Austin Moore and Dayna Moore.

Funeral is 11 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010 at St. Stephen Church, 1018 South 15th St. with burial in Green Meadows Cemetery. Visitation is 7 p.m. on Thursday at St. Stephen Church. Arrangements: G.C. Williams Funeral Home.

Jerry and Val Griffis of I Am Magazine reported that Bishop A.T. Moore, Jurisdictional Prelate Emeritus of the Kentucky 1st Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ, passed away.

According to his bio, Bishop Moore, who was born in 1911, was the "last living, active Jurisdictional Bishop in the Church of God in Christ who was personally appointed by the founder, Bishop Charles H. Mason.

Among other loved ones, Bishop Moore leaves his grandson, Austin Moore, member of the gospel group Nu Tradition.
