Legendary Radio Personality Bill Price Honored At Stroke Association Event

By Min. Angela Lee Price

Members of the stroke and hospital community, family, friends, and Jesus Saves Ministries sponsors all shared the evening with legendary radio personality Bill Price at KSISA 10th annual Extravaganza Tasting Event fundraiser on August 25th at The Olmstead in Louisville. Bill was recognized for his determination and will to thrive after his stroke in May 2008, and for encouraging and talking with many people about the importance of maintaining good health and knowing stroke warning signs and symptoms.

Bill gave an acceptance speech that touched many people. He acknowledged God and power of prayer in his year-long recovery, and accepted the award in memory of long-time friend and civil rights activist, the late Rev. Louis Coleman. He recognized the Baptist East hospital and rehab staff who cared for him during his month-long hospitalization.

A moment that "wasn't in the script," he stated, was when he was moved to tears at recalling what it meant to him to have his brother Deacon Jerome Price, left with Bill, cut the grass the first few months of his recovery. "It seems like a small thing, but I am passionate about cutting the grass, and it meant alot to me to hear Jerome's lawn mower ride up and roll away."

Attendees sampled food from premier restaurants and chefs and participated in silent auction. Kelsey Starks of WHAS-TV 11 was the mistress of ceremonies.
