Heavenly Father, James 4:2b says we do not have because we do not ask. Father, what is it that we should be asking for today? Should we be praying more fervently for the lost that they will come to know You as Father on this Father's Day Weekend?

Lord, Should we be praying for our fathers as we encourage them with hugs and kisses, ties, and gifts that they will grow strong in You and the power of Your might? Should we pray more fervently for our families, our ministries, our jobs, our churches, our Sunday school classes, for health, education, and strength? What should we pray? What is the most pressing need? Lord, Please, put it on our lips today!

Should we be praying for the the sick and shut in, the lonely, and the bereaved? They need Your comfort, Your protection and Your strength. Or should we pray for mercy in Your court, the only court that matters. There is so much that is wrong in the world. Only You can make it right! Lay it on our hearts by Your Holy Spirit. Help us, Lord to ask that we do not offend You!

Help us today, My Lord, to talk to You about things we have never talked about in prayer. Lord, Help us to intercede for people today by name and by circumstance. Please forgive our sins. Renew within us a righteous spirit, and put Your words in our hearts, and Your power in our words!

I am thinking of James 5:17 where Elijah prayed and it did not rain for 3 1/2 years, Lord. Later, he prayed and it began to rain. You answered his effectual, fervent prayers. We know that the prayers of the righteous availeth much. We pray to be a righteous people. Father, we pray to have Your ear like that!

In Jesus Name, Amen!
