St. Stephen East Celebrates Women's Day 2008 At Dosker Manor

A packed church participated in Women’s Day Service at St. Stephen East at Dosker Manor on Sunday, March 30th. The Dosker Manor Women’s Day Choir lead the congregation in praise and worship with two opening selections. Women’s Day Choir members wore red as did many women in the congregation. Many men supported the women on their day with the Lord.

Guest psalmist Barbara Trammell sang two songs including the pre-sermonic selection, “Not For the Miracles.” Rev. Syvoskia Bray introduced me as Women’s Day speaker.

My message was entitled, “The Power to Communicate,” based on Ephesians 6:12-14. I told the congregation that there is a strong connection between communication and spiritual warfare, that if we want the power to communicate effectively as Christians we need to 1) recognize they are in a spiritual battle; 2) stand up for truth, and, as Spike Lee has said; 3) do the right thing.

Pastor Rev. Blanche Hayden extended the invitation to except Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Pastor George Hayden counseled members of the congregation at the end of service. There was a reception after the service. The men helped in the kitchen, including Pastor Hayden.

Remember, it is not Mohammad, Buddha, Confucius, nor New Age that saves. Jesus saves!
