Jesus Is The Way

By:  Min. Angela Lee Price

Jesus told his disciples in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the father except through me."  Jesus had just finished supper in the upper room with them when he gave us one of His very greatest gospel texts
.
In my sanctified imagination, Thomas must have been overwhelmed and in a daze!  Jesus had already shared so much, that Judas would betray him for 30 pieces of silver; that Peter would deny him three times.  Then, Jesus declared He was going to heaven, and they were extremely concerned.  In John 14:  1-4, Jesus declared He was going to heaven.  And yet he told his disciples, “do not be troubled (v1).  Believers ought not be troubled today despite all that is going on in the world, and here’s why. First, we can take God at His Word.     When Jesus said, "Trust in God, and trust also in me,"  he was reminding his disciples to trust in God's Word (v.1).  Scripture had  spoken of Jesus' impending crucifixion and his resurrection.  Sometimes we miss important information when circumstances become overwhelming.  We must remember  to trust God's Word. Secondly, We can trust in Jesus. Jesus is the Logos, the Word made flesh who dwelt among us.  The Word was with God and the Word was God in the beginning (John 1:1-2). Jesus is God.  What is true of the Father is also true of the Son.  That is why it's important to study the written Word of God so that we can learn more about the incarnate Word of God, Jesus. Jesus said in Matt. 24:35, Heaven and earth will pass away;  but my words will never pass away."

Not only can we trust in God and trust in Jesus, but the benefit of that trust is  everlasting life for the believer.  Believers are going to heaven. Heaven is not a state of mind (Rev. 21).  Heaven is a  place prepared personally by Jesus who said, "I am going to prepare a place for you" (v2). Finally,  Jesus is coming back for us.  Notice, Jesus said, "I will come and get you."  Jesus is not merely going to send for us.  He is going to personally escort us to the Father's house!  Isn't that good news?!  The Bible tells us to "encourage each other with these words" (1 Thessalonians 4:18).  In heaven, there will be no more fear, death, pain, or sorrow.

Thomas caught the tail end of his statement.  Jesus said, You know the way to the place where I am going" (v4).  Thomas must have woke up.  "We don't know where you are going,"  he blurted out, "How can we know the way? (v5)  Jesus then provided answers to three pertinent questions that have continued to be sought out by  the lost, the learned, and the longing down through the ages.  Those questions are "How can I be saved?", "How can I be sure?", and "How can I be satisfied?"

For lost people, Jesus answers the question, "How can I be saved?  He says, "I am the way, No one comes to the Father except through me" (v6). Jesus clearly explains that the only ones who will enter heaven will be those who have accepted him as the way, the truth, and the life - not the people who have performed the greatest number of deeds.  Jesus does not tell them about the way, nor does He show them the way.  He does not even guide them along the way.  He says He is the way!

For the learned, Jesus answers the question, "How can I be sure?"  He says, “I am the truth.”   Everything that is true of God the Father is true of me.  Jesus replied to Thomas, "he who has seen me, has seen the Father" (v9). You can be sure when you put faith in Jesus Christ.

The word "truth" is used in Scripture in two ways:  true as contrasted with false; and genuine as contrasted with unreal.  Although both apply to God, when we speak of the truth of God, normally His genuineness is contrasted with false gods of other religions.  The Scriptures declare Jesus as the one true God (John 1:1-2; John 17:3).  There are no attributes of deity that the Jesus does not possess.  Jesus is the only way to have a relationship  with God (Romans 10:9; Acts 12:4; John 3:16).

For the longing who ask, "How can I be satisfied?, Jesus said, “I am the life,” that is, life in eternity and life on earth.  In fact, John 14:6 is one of the seven “I AM” statements of Jesus in the book of John. He is bread when you are hungry and water when you are thirsty.   He is the light of the world,  the door, the Good Shepherd, the resurrection and the life, and the true vine.

In John 10:10, he stated, "I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly," in other words, until you are satisfied.

The reason we can have relationship with God the Father is because Jesus paid the penalty for our sins on the Cross.  Jesus died, and rose again which is the Resurrection is all about.  Yes, Jesus is the way!  Not only is Jesus Christ the only way to eternal life, He is the only way to abundant life.  Salvation, deliverance, healing, and spiritual growth cannot come any other way except, through Jesus Christ. He is the way!

Memorial Day Tribute In Loving Memory

Guardians Tag Ministry

As we observe the Memorial Day Holiday, we pause to  remember our loved ones who have gone on to glory.  We honor and salute our active service men and women, veterans, and those whose lives were lost in war.  We thank God for their strength, bravery, and commitment to serving and protecting our country.  May the Lord continue to be with them and their families.

Brothers and Sisters, we do not grieve as if there is no hope.  We have this blessed assurance from Scripture that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.  Jesus said, "I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die (John 11:25-26).  Jesus said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled.  Trust in God; trust also in me.  In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may also be where I am" (John 14:1-4).

Though we may miss our family members, friends and loved ones on earth, we can rejoice knowing that we will see them again since anyone who dies in Jesus Christ lives in heaven.  Revelation 14:13 states, "Then I heard a voice from heaven say, 'Write:  blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.'  'Yes,' says the Spirit, 'they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.'"   What glorious benefits of salvation we have!

Remembering our dearly departed family members, active military, and veterans by reflecting on their godly influence in our lives is one of the many ways to give honor to God for his blessings toward us!  Have a blessed Memorial Day Holiday.  Jesus saves!

Romans 6:23 ESV
For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 14:6 ESV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Philippians 3:20-21 ESV
But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lo body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

Revelation 21:3-4 ESV
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

TGIF! Thank God It's Good Friday!

By: Angela Lee Price
A "bad" thing happened to Jesus on Good Friday, so what makes Good Friday so "good'? Jesus was falsely accused, scorned, rejected, whipped, humiliated, and nailed to the Cross on Good Friday. He suffered an agonizing death that day at the hands of the Jewish and Roman authorities.

What happened on Good Friday definitely was not good, but the results were very good for you and me. Scripture tells us that because Jesus endured the suffering of the Cross, Christians can shout, T.G.I.F.!, thank God I'm forgiven and it's Good Friday!

Good Friday is good because Jesus paid the penalty for our sins. Romans 5:8 says,
"But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Isaiah 53:5 says, "He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." What can wash away are sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus!

Good Friday is good for another reason. Jesus defeated Satan and his evil forces at the Cross. Colossians 2:15 states, "And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them at the cross." Hebrews 2:14-15 says, "Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death-that is, the devil-and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death."

Finally, Good Friday is good because it proves to us that when you put your faith in Jesus, it ain’t over, as Maurette Brown Clark sings, until God says it’s over! A lot of conversation occurred up on the Cross as Jesus died between two thieves. Jesus prayed to God. One thief taunted Jesus. The second thief rebuked the first thief. The second thief asked Jesus to remember him in His kingdom. Finally, Jesus promised the second thief that he would be with Him that day in paradise. In lst Peter 3:8 we read,
"For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body, but made alive in the Spirit." Acts 4:12 says, "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

Good Friday is good because our sin debt was paid, Satan was defeated, and it proves that through faith in Jesus Christ there's hope for eternal life even in our darkest hour. For these reasons, you can say, T.G.I.F.!, thank God I'm forgiven and it's Good Friday!
