Ochocinco Tweets About Beverly Crawford On Celebration Of Gospel

Min. Angela Lee Price

Many people have this idea that it's okay to walk out of church before it is over.  But it is at the end of worship service where we often receive our blessing.  This was true for me last weekend when I watched Celebrating of Gospel on BET.  Gospel artist Beverly Crawford gave a powerful performance at the end of the show!  I was amazed at how she sang and danced in those high heel shoes with such rhythm and passion.    Apparently Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ochocinco was amazed, too.  Below is a story I picked up from JDI Records on his tweets on Beverly Crawford last weekend.  I agree with JDI's press release.  Beverly Crawford is quickly becoming one of my favorite gospel singers.  I had a Top Five countdown segment on my radio show about three years ago and "He's Done Enough" was constantly at the top of my charts during that time.  When Celebrating Of Gospel comes on BET again, be sure to watch it through to the end.  It's about time for a miracle! Don't miss your blessing!

"In a tweet to over 1.5 million of his fans, NFL Star Chad Ochocinco raves about inspirational singer Beverly Crawford riveting performance on this year’s BET Celebration of Gospel TV Special. The wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals is the latest in a long line of ardent fans including President Obama, Fantasia, Natalie Cole & Patti LaBelle who count JDI Records artist Beverly Crawford as one of their favorite singers.

Everywhere you turn on TV, radio &; on her 100-city tour, the red-hot Beverly Crawford continues to demonstrate why she is universally regarded as one of the top vocalists in the world and why her new CD Live from Los Angeles – Vol. 2 is garnering rave reviews all over the country! “The incomparable Beverly Crawford is one of the truly great voices of our time!” Ebony Magazine The #1 Most Added Song at Radio (Billboard), “It’s About Time For A Miracle!” is the follow-up to Beverly’s #1 chart-topper “He’s Done Enough”, which dominated the Billboard Charts for over 70+ weeks & garnered 7 Stellar Award nods including CD of the Year, Artist of the Year, etc. CD, Songbook, and Sing-Along Performance Tracks."

My Life's Lyric by Dewayne Woods | CD Reviews And Information | NewReleaseTuesday.com

Artist of the Day on the Jesus Saves Social Network
My Life's Lyric by Dewayne Woods CD Reviews And Information NewReleaseTuesday.com

Offering a mixture of comforting ballads, funky up-tempo tunes, and lively praise and worship songs, MY LIFE'S LYRIC is an eclectic and brilliant follow-up to Wood's award-winning debut CD. It is also, according to Woods, a more mature and sophisticated album.
"I've grown a lot since I recorded my last CD, and the songs on this project reflect that," says Woods. "MY LIFE'S LYRIC is an album full of testimonies of everything that I've been through. Jeremiah 29:11 is my favorite scripture, and that powerful word is the foundation for this project."

Each track on MY LIFE'S LYRIC not only represents a different experience and a different aspect of Woods' life, but most of all, each song expresses another trait of God's awesome character. With producers including P.J. Morton, Aaron Lindsey, and Daniel Weatherspoon, MY LIFE'S LYRIC includes the debut single "Living on the Top," a remake of the song made famous by Douglas Miller in 1992.

The Black Gospel Blog: G.L.O. - Breakthrough

Win G.L.O. "Breakthrough" December 13th-18th in our 12 Days of Christmas" Gospel Music Give-Away                    on the Jesus Saves Social Network!
Jesus Saves Ministries will be giving away great gospel music beginning Monday, December 13th through December 24th in our "12 Days of Christmas" Gospel Music Give-away.  We will be posting reviews, and YouTube videos from the artists whose music will be given away.  From The Black Gospel Blog  is a review of Christian hip hop artist G.L.O.'s latest CD, "Breakthrough."  Join the Jesus Saves Social Network now and your name will automatically be included  in this give-away.

The Black Gospel Blog: G.L.O. - Breakthrough: "San Antonio’s Kim Ruiz, aka G.L.O. (God’s Love Only), is a rarity: a female Christian hip hop solo artist. Even rarer: this female Christian hip hop solo artist is already on her third CD, Breakthrough.

To a soundtrack of pounding industrial beats, Breakthrough features memorable, sing-song choruses with body-jerking repetition. G.L.O. is a rapid fire rapper with plenty of fashion style who stuffs more syllables into a beat than what seems possible. She sings, too, but where her singing voice is sweet and vulnerable, her rhyming is fierce and uncompromising...." (click on link above to read entire review).

Barbara Ice Trammell's Single, "A New Day" Released On Troy Sneed's New CD, "In Due Season."

By: Min. Angela Lee Price

Below is an excerpt from my September 11th radio interview with gospel singer, songwriter Barbara Ice Trammell on Jesus Saves Ministries Live! on BlogTalkRadio.com. The title song from Barbara's CD, "A New Day" was just recorded by national gospel artist Troy Sneed, and is on his newly-released CD, "In Due Season."

How did Troy Sneed learn of your song?
It was one of those God blowing your mind again things. When I look back over events that happened over the past few years I know that God actually said NO to me in a lot of circumstances that sent me into His YES . He blocked me from working with a lot of musicians, and believe me, I did try and when I had almost given up on the idea of a CD He brought a young man into my life by the name of Titus Robertson. Titus is from Louisville, but travels all over the world and works with many national artist. God sent him to help me. Titus was my musical consultant, arranger, confidant, you name it, for my last CD, which by the way is titled "New Day". Titus was the one who introduced my song to Troy Sneed.

Have you and Troy Sneed met?
Actually we have never met. I've corresponded with him by email and spoken to him on the phone. He has plans to be in this area soon and we plan to get together then.

How did you find out Troy Sneed was going to do his version of it?
Actually Titus called me a while ago and gave me the news. He asked me if it would be OK to have Troy call. Several weeks went by, and I was beginning to think it wouldn't happen. Then I got another call from Titus letting me know that Troy had been trying to reach me but had the wrong number. Once Troy got the right number, things started rolling quickly. Troy's version has a style that is different from mine. It's sort of has a quartet flavor. I love it! The song is the same but molded to his unique style. I'm so thrilled that this song can touch so many lives. God is so faithful.

Troy Sneed's version of your song has a quartet flavor. What flavor does your version have?
Actually my version has a more Traditional Gospel, Sunday Morning, Go To Church flavor.

What type of gospel music do you like singing the most traditional or contempory? Is it represented on your CD? I would say a little of both. And yes, most definitely these are reflected on my CD. I grew up in the Baptist church, so that's my foundation, however I have a couple of Masters Degrees in Music one of which is from in voice performance from The Cleveland Institute of Music.

What is the Inspiration behind New Day?
I am reminded each day that God has allowed me to wake up in my right mind in good health and blessed me with so many things. Most of all He's given me another opportunity to get things right and press toward the goals and blessing that He has for me.

What is your favorite song on the CD and why?
That would have to be "Holy, Holy, Holy"...We serve an awesome God. There is none that can be compared to Him. "I stand amazed, worhip and Praise Him..He only is Holy.

Who are some of the gospel artist you have worked with?
Yolanda Adams, Keith Hunter and The Witness For Christ Choir, Douglas Miller, Michael Bolton, Angella Christie, Bobby Jones.

Do you have plans to work with Troy further in any way?
I would love to. But for now there are no plans. I know that God's promises are true and in his time.....not mine.......I'll have my "Habakkah moment. :)"

Have you signed with a label?
No I haven't. I'm what's considered an Independent Artist. In fact God helped me to finance my last project totally on my own. That was not my plan, but His. He kept pouring into my spirit the same thing he did for Moses......."What Do You Have In Your Hands". I solicited funds, but none came. However in God's plan and time, little by little, penny by penny I was able to get it done. But I guess you already know.... God will not bless me to get my next CDs produced in the same way. He wants me to rely on Him, not man. I don't have the money I used to have because there were cutbacks on my job. I thank God I still have a job, but I just have to focus on a few other things right now. I have no complaints. All my needs have been met and some of my wants. :) God promised that "My Grace Is Sufficient....". So I know, that just like the title of Troy's new CD. "In Due Season."......God WILL handle it. The Word says that we will experience "New Mercies" every morning. So when I wake up in the morning, I Thank God for a "New Day".

He's 'Long" On Gospel Music

The following is my modified response to Annie Brock's post on the This Old Black Church Blog entitled, Hip Hop and the Church. In the post is a video of an apparent hip hop service at New Birth Church. Annie said it was an example of why she doesn't like hip hop gospel and her belief that it is a tool of Satan (paraphrasing her sentiments)....

I am a former gospel radio announcer. From May 2008-March 2009, I was the morning drive radio personality on WLOU 1350 in Louisville. My husband is well known in this city as a radio program director. We have worked all genres of urban music including hip hop and R&B. We have been gatekeepers in terms of what music gets airplay and what doesn't.

I understand your concern. Satan is the prince of the power of the air, including and especially the air waves. I have been slow in playing a lot of hip hop gospel because a lot of it has no redeeming value- you can't hear the lyrics or the lyrics are shallow with no spiritual depth. Sometimes, it's because the young people behind the music are not skilled in rightly dividing the Word of God, or they are so arrogant that you can't tell them anything.

There are some hip hop gospel artists, Canton Jones, for example comes out of Eddie Long's church, who are getting national airplay. "Stay Saved" was one of his big songs. That song resonated with young, black men--strong, positive message, nice tempo. We need to do all we can to reach them, and many of them have lead hardcore lives.

Eddie Long has a new CD out that targets a young adult demo called, Bishop Eddie Long & Friends, The Kingdom Vol. 1 Featuring GW's. He's backed by the heavy hitters of contemporary gospel, Mary Mary, Tye Tribbett, and Dorinda Clarke Cole. Smokie Norful comes out of Long's church. Like it or not, Eddie Long is a force to be reckoned in gospel music. He's "long" on gospel music, I guess you can say.

Even though I don't care for Eddie Long's prosperity theology, the New Birth Total Praise Choir has put out some great music--"Suddenly" and another song on on the Spirit & Truth CD, "Thank You for Your Grace." I admit, I have wrestled with playing the choir because of their association with Long. I think this is the dilemma discerning radio stations and their gatekeepers are up against, not just concerning Edddie Long, but also T.D. Jakes, Noel Jones, and Creflo Dollar who are producing a lot of contemporary gospel. And it is no secret that I love the City of Refuge Sanctuary Choir CD because it's not about us. It's about Jesus, and that is exactly the point.

When I listen to gospel music, I am listening for sound biblical doctrine first and foremost, audible lyrics and strong rhythms. It's not just hip hop gospel that Satan is using. He uses all of it. That's why we must pray about this issue and for our gospel radio stations and church music ministries, the music directors, program directors, and even general managers, owners, ministers of music and worship leaders that "saved," biblically-educated people are in those positions who are watching out for the sheep, and who are doing the will of Almighty God.

Maurette Brown Clark: The Dream Come True

By: Rev. Angela Lee Price

There was a "Holy Ghost party" Sunday night, April 5th as Stellar Award-winning national gospel artist Maurette Brown Clark and St. Stephen praise team, From the Heart rendered songs of praise and celebration to our One God, our Sovereign God, Jesus Christ during the Palm Sunday Concert entitled The Greatest held at St. Stephen Church in Louisville, Kentucky.

Maurette Brown Clark ministered in song with, One God, Sovereign God, Has God Done Anything For You?, and It Ain't Over from her latest award-winning CD, The Dream. She told the audiencee that her number one subject to sing and talk about is Jesus Christ. Maurette stated that people are busy surfing the network and cable news channels trying to get knowledge when their only source for true knowledge should be Jesus Christ. She shared testimony on the recording and release of The Dream, stating that the CD was recorded in 2004, but wasn't released until 2007. "I have been singing songs from the The Dream for five years," she stated. She encouraged other gospel artists and everyone in attendance to wait on their dream by waiting on God's timing. She recognized Joe Leavell and the Temple Choir for their CD and single, God Is Able being on the national charts, and stated that the nation has to hear singer, songwriter Jason Clayborn who was in attendance.

St. Stephen Church Praise Team, From the Heart, under the direction of concert organizer CJ Akins opened the concert with a number of up-tempo praise songs including Isaiah D. Thomas & Elements of Praise's song, The Greatest. The Greatest was their second Palm Sunday Celebration to set the record straight on the difference between Palm Sunday, the day Jesus made His trumphal entry into Jerusalem on a donkey and Good Friday, the day he was crucified.

Maurette's twin brother Maurice was in the audience as well as CJ Akins' mother, Roslyn Akins who opened in prayer and St. Stephen Church Senior Pastor Dr. Kevin, who gave closing remarks and the benediction.

WoW! St. Stephen Women's Weekend A Winner!

By: Rev. Angela Lee Price

Last Sunday was Women's Weekend at St. Stephen Church in Louisville, Kentucky. Led by Rev. Ton'ya "T.N.T." Triplett, the dynamic Women’s Day Choir was pretty in pink singing powerfully and soulfully.
On Saturday night, the preacher was Ms. Cheryl D. Walker, ordained associated minister and wife of Rev. Dr. T. Vaugh Walker, Senior Pastor, First Gethsemane Baptist Church, Louisville, Kentucky. Her message was entitled, You’ve Got to Die Before You Fly, based on Romans 12:1-2.

Sunday, Rev. Dr. Jazmin Sculark "practiced" preaching at all four services. Better known as “Dr. Jazz,” Rev. Sculark is the Pastor of the historical 100+ year old Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in York, Pennsylvania. She is the first female to be called to pastor a Baptist church in York, Pennsylvania. She preached powerful messages, Can You Help A Sista Out?, Making Something Out of Nothing, and Coming From Behind.

In Can You Help A Sista Out, based on the parable of the Canaanite woman's faith in Matthew Chapter 15:21-28, Dr. Sculark said, "A desperate woman meets a disinterested Savior and has to deal with some deluted saints....Your praise is no good until it bothers somebody...Your praise is for real when you can praise God when the answer He gives you doesn't make any sense....He shouldn't have to give you a house for you to praise him. He shouldn't have to give you a car for you to praise Him. You should praise Him for who He is, and not for what He gives you," she told the responsive congregation. She went on to say, "God is not moved by desperation, and He cannot be manipulated by worship." Although God can't be manipulated by worship, it saturates the atmosphere for Him to entertain the request. "While you're waiting on your bread, you can praise Him for your crumbs," she preached.

In the parable of the widow's oil, based 2 Kings 4:1-7, Dr. Sculark said in Making Something Out of Nothing, "If you are going to make something out of nothing you need to properly evaluate your present situation, be willing to ask for help, and trust God to make up the difference." In the parable of women with the issue of blood, based on Luke 8:40-44, Dr. Sculark said in Coming From Behind, “If you are going to come from behind, you’ve got to get out of your flow, get into God’s flow, and he will give you the overflow.” Also, she exclaimed, "You have to push past the pain and bust a move."

Remember, it is not Mohammad, Buddha, Confucius, nor New Age that saves. Jesus saves!

Palm Sunday Celebration Features Maurette Brown Clark

By: Min. Angela Lee Price
As Christians prepare to observe the death, burial, and ressurection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 12th, organizers of a Palm Sunday musical celebration entitled The Greatest featuring Stellar Award winning gospel artist Maurette Brown Clark set for April 5th at St. Stephen Church in Louisville, plan to set the record straight on the difference between Palm Sunday and Good Friday, two key biblical events that preceded Jesus' ascension on Resurrection Sunday.

Palm Sunday is often misunderstood states concert organizer, CJ Akins, "God gave me the vision last year to do a Palm Sunday celebration because a lot of people don't really understand what Palm Sunday was about. A lot of people confuse Palm Sunday with Good Friday, therefore you have church choirs singing songs like He Decided To Die on Palm Sunday, and Jesus did not die until Good Friday. Palm Sunday was truly a praise celebration! God gave me this vision to have a praise celebration just like the people did in the Bible. This concert will be a true worship experience. All songs will be songs of praise and adoration to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who is the greatest."

Gospel artist Maurette Brown Clark received a 2008 Stellar Award for Praise & Worship CD of the Year, for her latest CD entitled, The Dream. The CD includes songs One God, Sovereign God, and her latest single, It Ain't Over. "This year we’re going to another level! We are so blessed to have Stellar Award winner Maurette Brown Clark as our special guest, along with Min. Victor Wynn from the Temple Church in Nashville, Tennessee. I am truly excited about what God is going to do on April 5th," states Akins.

St. Stephen Church host praise and worship team, From the Heart will also render selections. CJ Akins is the worship leader for From the Heart, a praise team that sings every 2nd Wednesday at the St. Stephen Church Louisville campus. "God has truly blessed our ministry to sing throughout the Central Kentucky area as well. "We've been together since October 2006," states Akins.

The Greatest is Sunday, April 5th, 5:00 p.m. at St. Stephen Church, 1018 South 15th Street. It is free and open to the public.

Announcing Black History Quiz Winners

Congratulations Deborah Carlton, grand prize winner in the Jesus Saves Ministries Blackvoices.com Black History Quiz drawing. She won the book, Obama: From Promise to Power by David Mendell, Mary Mary's award-winning new CD, The Sound, the ESV New Testament Holy Bible, a He’s Leading Me On Hebrews 12:2 t-shirt, and an African American Heritage Calendar. In addition, Deborah received a perfect score, 10 out of 10, in the Unsung Heroes category.

"Taking the Black History Month Quiz was a fun way to test my knowledge about our heritage. In addition to testing myself, I believe as parents and grandparents we must know our history so that we can educate and equip our children. They must know about those that have paved the way and the struggles they endured so that they can appreciate the privileges they (youth) now have, take pride in our rich history, and realize their own potential to impact the future." Deborah Carlton, Black History Quiz Winner

Three additional contestants, Michael Lee, Angela Tellis, and Beverly Jones, each won a gospel music CD as consolation prize for scoring 7 out of 10 in at least one of the four quiz categories, Unsung Heroes, Little Known Facts, Women in History, and Black Oscars.

"I love taking quizzes and tests that challenge my knowledge and help me to gain insight about my people, that's what helped me get 17 out of 19, in this particular quiz, Black Oscars. It's a wonderful thing to find out and retain information about the lives of various African Americans who have aided in making us a race that has come so far and have done so many positive things in so many areas, in so little time. The impact and affect we as a people have made in the lives of everyone on this planet is astounding and gratifying to me. Realizing the talent, intelligence and pride we possess excites and motivates me to continue to strive to become the best I can be, and it is my hope that one day more of us will become aware of and operate in our God given gifts and talents, creating and leaving an even greater mark on the lives of others yet to become." Angela Tellis

The St. Stephen Temple Choir hosted a semi private party at Actor's Theatre of Louisville on Saturday, February 21st celebrating Tuesday's national release. American Stroke Association Hosts Louisville Power Awards Luncheon

Black History Month — a time to recognize past achievements — is also a good time to focus on one of the greatest threats to African Americans: stroke. On November 6, 2008, the American Stroke Association hosted the Louisville Power Awards Luncheon at Masterson’s Restaurant. The awards presentation and luncheon, hosted by WHAS-TV news anchor Renee Murphy, recognized community leaders and companies for exceptional voluntary service to the campaign.

Power To End Stroke is an education and awareness campaign that embraces and celebrates the culture, energy, creativity, and lifestyles of African Americans. It unites African Americans to help make an impact on the high incidence of stoke within the community.

Jesus Saves Ministries founder, Min. Angela Lee Price received the Inspiration Award recognizing ambassadors from various community organizations, businesses, and local churches who have inspired the community to support Power to End Stoke. "I want to thank the American Stroke Association for choosing me to receive this award. After my husband's stroke last May, the Lord placed it upon my heart to alert as many people as I could through radio and the internet about the warning signs and risk factors for stroke. Too many African Americans are dying needlessly from poor eating habits, and lack of exercise, but Jesus said, 'I come that you may have life and have it more abundantly,'" stated Min. Price.

Other honorees included Dr. Adewale Troutman, Legacy Award; Tanika Owens, Outstanding Ambassador Award; Dr. Kerri Remmel, Power Broker Award; Tony Huey, Impact Award; Theresa Byrd, Strategic Alliance Award; and Louisville Defender Newspaper, Strategic Alliance Award. Dr. James M. Gebel, Jr., Medical Director for Jewish Hospital Emergency Stroke Center and St. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital Stoke Center was the keynote speaker.
