Linkin' Bridge from AGT Finale Makes Surprise Appearance at District 5 Community Celebration

Bill and Angela Price with Council Woman Cheri Bryant Hamilton
We had an awesome time on Saturday at the District 5 Community Celebration at the Shawnee Amphitheater! The 10th annual event was hosted by Council woman Cheri Bryant Hamilton and the 5th District Neighborhood Advisory Committee. There was something for everyone, youth activities and games, dancers, poetry reading, spoken word, deejay, food, entertainment, live performances, the Tones of Joy, Tony Fish, the Unlimited Show Band.

My husband, Bill and I were among recipients of the Molly Leonard Community Service Award Saturday, September 17th at District 5 Community Celebration   I encouraged everyone to find something they are passionate about and use their gifts and talents to serve God and community. Bill encouraged everyone to live a healthy lifestyle through diet and exercise.

We met Louisville's own Linkin' Bridge! They made a surprise appearance direct from the U of L vs Florida State game at Papa John's Stadium and NBC's America's Got Talent! They made it to the Finals Top 10 before being eliminated last Tuesday.  China Lacy (in red) told youth to believe in themselves and produce positive music.  They performed briefly and took pics with fans.

Councilwoman Hamilton announces Music and Activities lineup for the 10th Annual District 5 Community Celebration

Bill and I want to thank Council woman Cheri Bryant Hamilton and the 5th District Neighborhood Advisory Committee for thinking so kindly of us to include both of us among recipients for Molly Leonard Community Service Award at the 10th Annual District 5 Community Celebration, Shawnee Park on Saturday, September 17th.  We consider it a honor and blessing to serve our community.  It takes a village working together to make West Louisville and the entire city of Louisville a better place. Thanks you again! We shall continue to look for ways to use our gifts and talents, give to the least of these, and enrich our community to the glory of God.

Jesus Saves Coordinates WLOU Prayer Breakfast for Third Year

By:  Angela Lee Price

Let us continue praying for Louisville, Kentucky and other cities across the country currently experiencing increases in homicides, and gun violence. As of September 9th, Louisville has seen a record 81 murders, surpassing the 2015 count of 80 for the year.   In June in response to the sharp raise in violence, Jesus Saves Ministries partnered with WLOU 104.7 FM, Louisville's Rhythm and Gospel station to host the "Silence the Violence, Increase the Peace" Summerfest Prayer Breakfast at the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage.  This is our third year serving as coordinating ministry for the breakfast.  The kick-off event for Summerfest 2016, WLOU’s outdoor, family gospel festival in Chickasaw Park, drew approximately 400 in attendance on Friday, June 17th.  Speakers included, Mayor Greg Fischer, Louisville Metro Police Department Chief Steve Conrad, Congressman John Yarmuth, State Senator Gerald Neal, activist Neal Robertson, and Council woman Cheri Bryant Hamilton.  WAVE-3 News anchor Dawne Gee served as emcee.  Apostle Dorothy Nelson, New Destiny of Faith Church, and Dr. Ruth Wilson, Shekinah Glory Ministry served as prayer leaders.  Jason Clayborn and the Team were our musical guest.

Mayor Greg Fischer stated that we must continue the spirit of goodwill that existed in the city during the week of the Muhammad Ali observances and memorial service.  Senator Neal stated that some state gun laws currently tie hands of local officials, looking at new measures to keep guns out of hand of criminals.

Chief Steve Conrad, who put statistics to number of homicides this year, with a disproportionate percentage involving young adults under 25. Community must pray and participate with law enforcement to turn around sharp escalation in gun violence.

Dawne Gee stated we must begin to love one another, give people the benefit of the doubt because we don't always know what's going on with them. She ended by saying, "I don't look like what I've been through!"

The keynote speaker, Dr. F. Bruce Williams preached a powerful sermon from the Scripture, "Blessed are the peacemakers because they shall be called the sons of God," Matthew 5:9. Peacekeepers separate opposing factions without resolving the underlying conflict. Peacemakers build bridges, and bring justice into equation to resolve conflict. Real peace comes from God. To obtain peace of God, one must have peace with God through Jesus Christ, our peacemaker. Peace making is hard work, but blessed work.

God's Got You! Video Devo

Romans 8:31-35
~Reading Romans chapter 8 made me holla!  God does all things well!  He's got me! For the believer, God's got you, too! Those He foreknew, He predestined. Those he predestined, He called.  Those He called, He justified and glorified.
Jesus said in Matt. 20:16, that many are called, but few are chosen.  He was talking about the general call for all to believe. Paul here in Romans 8:31-ff is speaking about the specific "call" of God by which God brings believers to salvation. For the believer, God's got you!  Come what may, He's got you!  God's got your beginning, your middle and your end!  You are secure in Jesus Christ!

What can we say about these things?  If God be for us, who can be against us?  He gave his own Son so that you might be reconciled to Him.  Shall He not freely, along with him, give us all things?  Who can condemn those chosen of God?  No one. If God be for us, who can be against us? Not only who, but what can be against us....shall tribulation,  distress, persecution, famine, nakedness,  peril, or sword? No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

If you don't know Jesus as Lord and Savior, accept Him today. In him you are not only secure...but come what may.. you are more than a conqueror!  God's got you! Jesus saves!
