My Life's Lyric by Dewayne Woods | CD Reviews And Information | NewReleaseTuesday.com

Artist of the Day on the Jesus Saves Social Network
My Life's Lyric by Dewayne Woods CD Reviews And Information NewReleaseTuesday.com

Offering a mixture of comforting ballads, funky up-tempo tunes, and lively praise and worship songs, MY LIFE'S LYRIC is an eclectic and brilliant follow-up to Wood's award-winning debut CD. It is also, according to Woods, a more mature and sophisticated album.
"I've grown a lot since I recorded my last CD, and the songs on this project reflect that," says Woods. "MY LIFE'S LYRIC is an album full of testimonies of everything that I've been through. Jeremiah 29:11 is my favorite scripture, and that powerful word is the foundation for this project."

Each track on MY LIFE'S LYRIC not only represents a different experience and a different aspect of Woods' life, but most of all, each song expresses another trait of God's awesome character. With producers including P.J. Morton, Aaron Lindsey, and Daniel Weatherspoon, MY LIFE'S LYRIC includes the debut single "Living on the Top," a remake of the song made famous by Douglas Miller in 1992.

Miracles, Magic, and Money Business!

Rev. Angela Lee Price
You see them everyday on cable television early in the morning and in the wee hours of the night, the prosperity "profits "peddling their miracle products and magic potions. It seems there is a "free" product for every situation, for every "going through," and it appears handkerchiefs are the stuff miracles are made of this season. There is...

  1. Don Stewart and his green "Miracle Prosperity" handkerchief. He says if you make a vow of tithe of $1,000 or $500 and he will get 'Pookie' out of jail. I say that if you had $1,000, you could get 'Pookie' out of jail yourself.
  2. The screaming Kerney Thomas and his Personal Prayer Package. His is the red "Blood of Jesus" handkerchief. Hmm...He needs to talk to Don Stewart so that they can get their colors straight. Which is it, the red hanky or the green one? I bet a few Deltas and AKAs could have some fun with this one.
  3. Paul Lewis and his Miracle Olive Oil Soap. Won't a bar of pure shea butter soap and a bottle of olive oil do?
  4. Peter Popoff and his Miracle Spring Water. Popoff got caught several years ago lying at one of his crusades about personal prophecies. It wasn't God talking to him afterall, but his wife talking to him through a hearing aid concealed in his ear. He is back and on BET. Lie to me once, shame on you. Lie to me twice, shame on me!

Judging from all I've seen on television lately, it would appear that this is the stuff miracles are made of this season! The cable television "profits" often quote Acts 19:11-12 to support their claims that handkerchiefs can heal you, that handkerchiefs can bring you financial blessings, "God was performing unusual miracles through Paul. Even handkerchiefs and aprons he had used were taken to the sick, and their diseases were driven away, and evil spirits would go out of them."

However, read down a little further in that chapter. You will discover that the seven sons of Sceva tried to do the same thing, but "...the evil spirit said to them 'I know Jesus, and I know about Paul, but you-who are you?' The man who had the evil spirit in him attacked them with such violence that he overpowered them all. They ran away from his house, wounded and with their clothes torn off " (Acts 19: 15-16).
Don't call on the "seven sons of Sceva," and their miracle products. Be careful when preachers tell you that you need certain objects, handkerchiefs, soaps, oils to give you what only God can give. It's a trick of the enemy that diverts your attention away from God and on to man. I'm not saying don't use anointing oil. I am saying it is wrong to use such items as gimmicks and as the sole remedies for healings and miracles.
Call on Jesus Christ and the whole counsel of His Word. Call Him up, as the seniors use to say, and tell'em what you want. He is a miracle worker! He will pick you up, turn you around, and place your feet on solid ground. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to thine own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and he will direct your paths." Turn off the television, open the door to the Word of God, and Jesus will come in.
Remember, it is not Mohammad, Buddha, Confucius, nor New Age that saves. Jesus saves!

The Black Gospel Blog: G.L.O. - Breakthrough: "San Antonio’s Kim Ruiz, aka G.L.O. (God’s Love Only), is a rarity: a female Christian hip hop solo artist. Even rarer: this female Christian hip hop solo artist is already on her third CD, Breakthrough.

To a soundtrack of pounding industrial beats, Breakthrough features memorable, sing-song choruses with body-jerking repetition. G.L.O. is a rapid fire rapper with plenty of fashion style who stuffs more syllables into a beat than what seems possible. She sings, too, but where her singing voice is sweet and vulnerable, her rhyming is fierce and uncompromising...." (click on link above to read entire review).

Sermon Excerpt: Just Throw It In the Bag!

By: Min. Angela Lee Price
Matthew 2:1-2; 10-12 KJV

(v1) Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem.
(v2) Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
(v 10) When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
(v11) And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

Who were these wise men? They were outsiders, Gentiles called Magi or Magicians. They were from Persia, modern day Iraq. Magi among the Persians were their intellectuals, philosophers and priests. Persia and the eastern nations were known for their star gazing, astrology, and idol worship. God in his infinite wisdom and sovereignty spoke to the Magi in their language of the stars and drew them from afar, some 800 miles to worship the new born King. You should be shouting right there! The Bibles says at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, every astrologer, magician, and soothsayer, and tongue shall confess Jesus as Lord!

No doubt their gifts were wrapped with beautiful bows and ribbons of multi colors, cut from the finest cloth. Can’t you hear the rapper, Fabolous, “Just throw it in the bag!... Look at the price tags? Where they do that at? Just throw it in the bag!” They traveled, following the extraordinary star, to present their best to the new born King, money and products from their far-away country, gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Some commentaries suggest they offered gold as tribute to the King in Jesus, rendering to Caesar that which was Caesar’s; frankincense to the God in Jesus, for God was often honored with the smoke of incense; and myrrh to the Man in Jesus, that should he die, the myrrh could be use to embalm him. The wise men gave gifts to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords!

I stopped by to ask, what’s inside your bag? What are you giving Jesus for Christmas?

God has given every Christian at least one gift to bring to lay before the King, a spiritual gift. First Peter 4:11 states, “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms” (NIV).

Ephesians 4:7-8 tells us Jesus, the Perfect Gift, has given gifts to men. Our gifts have been given “for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ” (v12). He didn’t save us to sit. He saved us to serve!

Even if some of your gifts appear to be a mystery to you a little while, your gifts will find you out. Your gifts will make room for you. Has anyone come up to you lately and said, “You’re good at that!,” “You should consider doing such and such in the church?” Those are quite possibly times when your gifts are making themselves known. Stephen (Acts 6-7) was the first disciple martyred for the faith in the New Testament. Stephen’s gifts were known to the multitude. And so, Stephen was voted into office as deacon. Stephen was one of the seven men chosen to assist the apostles in the administrative affairs of the early Jerusalem church. He is most noted for his outstanding character, faith, wisdom, courage, and willingness to contend for the faith against false accusation and fierce opposition. My church, St. Stephen Church is named after Stephen.

God threw an array of valuable gifts in Stephen's bag, and Stephen, a wise man gave his gifts to the King!

a. administration (v3,5)
b. wisdom (v3)
c. faith (v5)
d. teaching (v9-10, chapter 7)
e. prophecy (v9-10, chapter 7)
f. martyrdom (chapter 7, 7:60)

In addition to these gifts, Stephen was fine! He had it “going on!” In my sanctified imagination, he looked like Denzel Washington. The Sanhedrin crowd couldn’t help but stare at him when he spoke because “they saw that his face was like the face of an angel (chapter 6:15). So, what's in your bag?  What are you giving Jesus for Christmas?

I know some of you are saying I have no money. I have no job. I can’t afford Gucci, Lou Vuitton. I’m like the Little Drummer Boy and Alicia Keys singing “Little Drummer Girl” where she says, “Christmas is lost. I have no gifts to bring to lay before the King. Br rump, pa, pa, pum. It’s just me and my drum!” Then, my brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Bring discernment, evangelism, and giving; bring hospitality, intercession, and knowledge; bring pastoring, teaching and writing; bring your musical gifts, vocal and instrumental.

Sing glory to God in the Highest! Sing glory to God in the Highest! Sing glory to God in the Highest and on Earth Peace (Luke 2:14)!

Sermonnette preached Wednesday, December 23, 2009, St. Stephen Church, Louisville, KY.

Your Prayers Needed Now More Than Ever!

By: Min. Angela Lee Price

Praying People of God,

Your prayers are needed now more than at any time this year. Please stand with me in agreement to remain committed to lifting up each other as we travail together in faith before the Lord for the lost, hurting, and displaced people in our families, churches, and communities.
While we remain encouraged by the Word of God no matter the situation, there are too many people who aren't getting the sustenance they need to make it through these difficult times. We must travail for them. Just this week, the front page news story in the Louisville area was that unemployment benefits will expire for thousands who are currently receiving them -- right here, right at Christmas and during the coldest time of the year. Another front page story just before Thanksgiving said that the demand is up by people in need at area shelters but donations are flat.

In hearing and reading these news stories, we understand that members of this network are not immune from economic hard times, and hardships either. The bible tells in John 16:33, "...In this world you will have trouble." . In fact, Christians will suffer just as Jesus suffered for the gospel's sake. So we must travail  in prayer not only for other people, but for one another.

Each day this month, place the name of one person on our prayer list who we can all pray for. Once a week this month, post a prayer in our prayer group, The Prayers of the Righteous. Let us together, through our participation in faith, encourage each other as we stand in the gap for the needs of "least of these" -- the lost, the unemployed, underemployed, the homeless, those in crisis circumstances -- the sick, shut-in, hospitalized, as well as our own families, pastors, churches, ministries and communities.

Remember, the prayers of the righteous availeth much!
